Compare H.264 with MPEG4

Tech H.264 MPEG4
I-frame prediction 4x4:9 types, 16x16: 4 types N/A
p-frame prediction 16x16:7 types
16x8,8x8,8x4,
4x8, 4x4
16x16, 8x8
transformation 4x4 integer 8x8 DCT
entropy encoder CAVLC, CABAC Huffman
loop filter Yes No

[update:9/16/2010]
Of course MPEG4 has I-frame too.
H264 uses multiple reference frames for inter-prediction. It uses weighted prediction
H264 use quarter-pixel motion (six-tap filtering for half-pixel, linear interpolation for quarter pixel). [#]
